Ventilator Simulator Platform Hardware Aspect of the Project:

Almost NO soldering is required to assemble or connect the hardware components of this Instructable. It will be difficult but not impossible to hurt your self or equipment as long as you stay within the power range of the USB and Arduino board. But, eye protection should be worn throughout the execution of this project. Caution must be observed when employing the cable crimpers, wire strippers, cable test clips, and header pins. Do not leave the Arduino powered unattended.

Primary Components & Materials

1 Arduino Mega256 or Arduino Uno
1 Seeed WIFI Shield 2.0
1# Adafruit Motor Shield v2.3
2# Adafruit Shield stacking headers set for Arduino (R3 Compatible)
Note #: The Adafruit Motor Shields require soldering
of the shield stacking headers.

From Seeed Grove Starter Kit (Or suitable replacements)

1 Seeed Base Shield 1 Grove RGB Backlight LCD
1 Grove Button
1 Grove Buzzer
1 Grove LED Socket with LED installed
4 Grove Cables (four pin connectors)

Arduino Hardware

1 PC with USB port under Ubuntu OS or equivalent Windows/Mac OS
1 AB USB cable for uploading to Arduino
1 USB or Battery Power Source
3 Header Socket Pins or suitable alternative

Android Device

Devepoped using Samsung Tab2 SMT-T710 Android Version 7.0
WIFI connection for Arduino and Android Device

Recommended Vehicle Chasis

Standard Makeblock MBot chassis less everything except
Drive wheels with motors
Plus rasised plexiglass for stack foundation
1 9 volt battery with adapters for motor shield.
1 9 volt battery with adapter for Arduino Mega.d pins/signals.

Specialized Tooling Required

Two connection will need to be made from Pin14-TX3/Pin15-RX3 of the Mega256 to the WIFI Shield TX D0 and RX 09. Wire-wrapping was used as a means of accomplishing this task. Details will be found on the next page. BUT plan on making this connection. Dupont connectors could easily serve as subtitutes but they were not available in the shop/lab.
